ABOUT ME

i'm kate

Hi there

I'm a physical therapist, strength coach, nutrition coach, powerlifter, celiac, house plant hoarder, and lover of sleep.

what do i want to be when i grow up?

I have played sports or been active in some way my whole life. Every single sport that was offered from kindergarten to middle school, I tried at least once. Loved most of them, wasn't always the most coordinated.

I also have always loved trying to figure out how things work. I even originally thought I was going to go to school to be an engineer.

But eventually I realized that I could put together my love for activity and my love of problem solving: physical therapy.

So I did a 6 year accelerated program at Northeastern University to get my bachelors in rehab science, 2 minors in exercise science and psychology, and, the important one, my doctorate in physical therapy.

the powerlifting career begins..

While at Northeastern, I found the wonderful sport of powerlifting and from there my passion for all things strength training grew. I had no idea at the time but powerlifting changed my life. It influenced the way I practice as a physical therapist and has influenced my passion of coaching. It also improved my confidence, gave me purpose, kept me focused on goals, and improved my mental health. It also helped me focus on my health while dealing with a Celiac disease diagnosis.

From that point, I knew I wanted to help as many people as possible learn and embrace being strong and gaining confidence. I loved helping the newer lifters learn to move their bodies and embrace the iron life.

So after spending 18 years of my life in school and I decided to do more learning. I studied for and passed the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam. From there I started coaching powerlifters through Northeastern and coaching friends. Then, to help my athletes even more, I decided to pursue a certification in nutrition coaching through Precision Nutrition.

And the learning won't stop

I want to bring the most up to date information to my patients and clients. I believe that knowledge is power. And you get the easy end of the deal, I take all the information I have learned and make it simple and easy for you to learn and apply.

Because learning, listening, and reading is nothing without ACTION.

and then Kate Driscoll Coaching was born...

during the quarantine of 2020. I was furloughed from my corporate physical therapy job and I couldn't sit still and do nothing.

So I started an educational instagram: @katedriscoll.dpt

And I started looking at the other content out there marketed towards beginners to exercise and strength training.

And cringed.

Cringed hard at how awful and confusing the social media world was:

"do this, no don't do this, or only do this this way."

I'm not about that life. I knew there needed to be something in the middle. I began looking for ways to provide clear, simple information that leaves people feeling knowledgeable and confident in themselves and in their fitness and health habits.

So I created Kate Driscoll Coaching to fill the gap I saw in the fitness world.

Sound good to you? Then check out my offers

Outside of the titles

  • My hair is pretty much always in a messy bun. Or a braid. Sometimes a ponytail. Probably with a headband. Occasionally down when my photo might be taken (then it goes right back up). I hate hair getting in my face.

  • If I find an item of clothing I like, I buy it in multiple colors. Makes getting ready in the morning much easier. Which is great because..

  • Sleep is one of my favorite things. Getting out of bed in the morning is my least favorite thing.

  • I'm a superhero nerd. I have movie-marathoned the Avengers movie collection, the X-Men movie collection, and the DC movies so many times.

  • If I see a dog, I'm going to shout to look at the cute pupper 9/10. I love dogs, but currently can't have one in my apartment :( Pretty obsessed with my parent's dog though and talk about him whenever I get the chance (that's him on the right).

  • I love paper planners and written to do lists, but also my Google calendar. We can love both.

  • I love podcasts. I listen to them when I drive (the always learning thing). I could never see myself doing one though because I hate the sound of my own voice.

  • I watch a lot of tv and love a corny rom-com. I definitely watch the Netflix Christmas movies out of season. I'm often multi-tasking when watching TV, but I usually know what's going on.

  • I love surprises, but I usually figure them out beforehand.

  • I dance between lifting sets. Not very well. But it makes me happy. I highly recommend it. It is my secret weapon for lifting gains and great competitions.
